GitKraken Pro is available for free to students and teachers through the GitHub Student Pack. If you don’t have the pack yet, first apply through GitHub:
🚨Important: After receiving the pack, sign into your GitKraken account using GitHub again to activate Pro access.
Enable Pro Access for Students
Once approved, sign into your GitKraken account through GitHub again to activate Pro.
To sign in, launch GitKraken Desktop and go to:
File Sign into a Different Account Sign in with GitHub
Or, use the profile dropdown:

GitKraken will verify your GitHub account for the Student Pack. If successful, you’ll see the Pro flag in the bottom right and have access to private repos.
If Pro is missing, verify your GitHub email is the one associated with the pack.

How long does it take to get approved?
GitHub manages approvals. For help, email [email protected].
Why don’t I see Pro after signing in?
If Pro doesn’t appear:
- Sign out of GitHub in your browser.
- In GitKraken: File > Sign into a different account > Sign in with GitHub
- Use the GitHub login tied to your Student Pack.
You should now see PRO in the GitKraken UI. If not, confirm your pack is active with GitHub support.
How long do I keep Pro?
You’ll retain Pro while your GitHub Student Pack remains active.
Note: GitKraken Pro access ends when your GitHub Student Pack expires.
Can I use Pro on multiple devices?
Yes, your Pro license is tied to your email address, not to a specific computer.
How do I reverify my pack?
Just sign into GitKraken with GitHub again as shown above.
How do I report a bug or vulnerability?
For bugs, join our Public Slack and @keif in your message. For vulnerabilities, email [email protected].
Can I request GDPR-related account deletion?
Yes. Email [email protected]. Data deletion is permanent and irreversible.
